Espresso cups – traditionally known as ‘demitasse’ cups – are around half the size of regular coffee cups, holding 2-3 ounces (around 70ml) of coffee. They are used to serve small, strong coffee, as well as other after-dinner beverages, such as cappuccino, speciality coffees and Turkish coffees.
In Italy, espresso is considered an essential part of daily life and is therefore regulated by the government. No wonder it’s become such a popular choice of drink worldwide.
