Wusthof Classic
FAQs
What’s the difference between Wusthof Classic and Wusthof Ikon?
Wusthof offers numerous ranges, and the main difference between the Wusthof Classic range and their Ikon range is that the Classic knives feature a more angular, traditional handle with a bolster at the base of the blade, while Ikon range knives have an ergonomically sculpted handle that feels wonderful in the hand, with the bolster at the base of the handle, preserving perfect balance and enabling the full length of the blade to be used.
Where are Wusthof Classic knives made?
All Wusthof Classic knives are made in Solingen, in Germany, and have been for over 200 years. Solingen steel has a reputation for being some of the finest in the world, and the region has a knife-making history that goes back to the days of sword-smithing and axe-making of around 1200AD.
Since at least 1571, knives, swords and scissors made from Solingen steel have been emblazoned with marks like ‘ME FINEC SOLINGEN’ meaning ‘Solingen Made Me’. If you look closely at the Wusthof Classic range, you’ll simply see ‘Made in Solingen’ on each blade.
