Store Manager - Season, Islington
£37,000 - £42,000 · full time, permanent
Season is an independent cookware company with four London shops and our own range of knives, boards, tri-ply and cast iron. Islington is our flagship, and we're looking for someone to run it properly.
This is a small shop with a small team - usually two of you on the floor, three on a Saturday. That means you sell as well as manage. You'll lead and coach the team, own the service, the standards and the numbers, keep the shop looking like somewhere people choose to spend time, run the operational side (rotas, stock, cash) without drama, and make sure our in-store cooking classes run well.
We think a good shop is a rare thing, and we care a lot about ours. If you notice the crooked shelf, the dusty top and the customer no one's helping, and it quietly bothers you until it's fixed, you'll fit here.
You'll need to have:
- Run a team of three or more, for at least two years
- Worked to a sales target, and moved a number you can point to
- Sold on features and benefits, and taught others to do the same
- Told someone their work wasn't good enough, and seen them get better
- Calm, organised, good on detail
- An interest in cooking, and in helping other people cook better
The shape of the job: five days from seven, Saturdays included - that's not negotiable, so please only apply if that works for you. You'll report to Andrew, our Head of Retail.
To apply, send your CV and short answers to these questions to jobs@seasoncookshop.co.uk. We read the answers closely - short and specific beats long and polished.
- Are there any days you'd rather not work as part of a 7-day rota?
- Tell us about one thing you changed in a team you led. What was the number before, what was it after, and how do you know it was you?
- Describe the last time you told someone their work wasn't good enough. What did you say, and what happened next?
- What's the best shop or restaurant you've been in recently, and what specifically made it good?
- Have you managed a team of three or more people for at least two years?
