Because there's only so many times you need a Number 5 tin for a 5th birthday. Come in and borrow one.

My dad was a freelance cameraman, travelled the world learning about local cuisines as he went, and was particularly fond of Japanese and Middle Eastern cooking. We often cooked together; everything from sushi to experimenting with things like harissa meatballs. Those times have influenced me greatly - the joy of getting the balance of flavours right. I am rather partial to a shakshuka, although a good Sunday roast is hard to beat.

I am what used to be called a ‘good plain cook’ - my roasties will knock your socks off, and people put in requests for the Victoria sponge. I love a traybake, chicken and chorizo with rice, or a chocolate bread and butter pudding. It doesn’t matter how simple a shared meal is, as long as it’s made with care and eaten with people you like. Customers here end up part of the place, and once I know what someone actually cooks at home, I can usually point them at the right tin or pan first time.
